Mr Simon Nightingale is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and RICS Accredited Expert Witness providing quantity surveying, dispute resolution, expert witness and advisory services to the offshore oil and energy sectors.


He has advised oil majors and engineering/ service companies in procurement, contracts & commercial management and dispute resolution roles. Also, he has provided expert advice to law firms and taken instruction to act as an Expert Witness in quantum matters related to offshore engineering and construction projects.

Offshore location experience includes the North Sea (UK & Norway), Caspian Sea, Gulf of Arabia and South China Seas. 

 

His expertise is in quantity surveying practice, valuation of variations and final accounts, contractual interpretation and claims preparation in relation to major engineering and construction disputes. He has also provided advice in relation to delay claims and prolongation costs, defects correction and defence against counter claims.


He has also acted as a quantum expert in arbitration and litigation cases and provided witnesses statements for trial. This includes providing written reports and verbal evidence for litigation in Norway and the Technology and Construction Court in London, including having been cross examined by QC’s. 


Mr Nightingale has also successfully concluded the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence and is an accredited as an expert witness by the RICS under its expert witness referral scheme.


He possesses detailed knowledge of alternative dispute resolution practices as well as experience in litigation in the UK through to trial. An experienced negotiator and has successfully concluded large settlements up to the value of US$260M, avoiding the need for arbitration/ litigation. 


Contract specialties are LOGIC, NTK and associated bespoke contracts for offshore engineering and construction works.
